CLIMATE CHANGE AUTHORITY (CCA)

Australians Unified Climate Change, Energy, the Environment & Water Portfolio

The Climate Change Authority (CCA) is Australia’s independent advisory body on climate policy, emissions reduction, and long‑term national climate planning. It provides evidence‑based recommendations to government, industry, and the public to support Australia’s transition to a net‑zero, climate‑resilient future.

The CCA works with scientists, economists, industry, First Nations communities, and international partners to ensure Australia’s climate policies are credible, effective, and aligned with global best practice.

OUR ROLE

The Climate Change Authority exists to:

  • Provide independent advice on climate policy and emissions reduction

  • Develop national carbon budgets and sectoral pathways

  • Assess progress toward Australia’s climate targets

  • Support long‑term climate planning and adaptation

  • Conduct reviews of climate legislation and policy effectiveness

  • Engage with industry, experts, and communities

  • Strengthen transparency and public trust in climate action

The CCA ensures Australia’s climate policy is informed, credible, and future‑ready.
