The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust (Harbour Trust) protects, conserves, and rehabilitates nationally significant lands around Sydney Harbour. It ensures these iconic sites — rich in natural, cultural, military, and First Nations heritage — are preserved for public use, environmental health, and future generations.

The Harbour Trust works with Traditional Owners, local communities, environmental groups, heritage experts, and government agencies to restore landscapes, protect biodiversity, and provide accessible public spaces across Sydney Harbour.

 

OUR ROLE

The Sydney Harbour Federation Trust exists to:

  • Protect and conserve Sydney Harbour’s natural and cultural heritage

  • Restore and manage former defence and industrial lands

  • Provide accessible public spaces, parks, and walking trails

  • Strengthen biodiversity and environmental resilience

  • Support First Nations cultural recognition and co‑management

  • Deliver heritage interpretation and community education

  • Partner with local councils, communities, and environmental groups
